1st VDG: Donna Prince

2nd Vice District Governor (VDG) Donna Prince was born in Van Nuys, CA and moved to Santa Monica at the age of five, when her parents bought The Farmer’s Daughter Café.  In 1971 her family moved to the Grass Valley area where they owned and operated The Red Wagon Restaurant for 35 years.  A graduate of Placer High School, Donna attended Sierra College and California State University, Sacramento where she earned AA and BA degrees in Accounting and Geography.

2nd VDG Donna started her Lions life in 1992 when she became a Charter Member of the Bear River Lioness Club.  Her mother, Emily Spencer was the the Club’s Charter President and Donna’s sponsor.   In 2007 she joined Higgins Diggins Lions Club and has held every club level office except Lion Tamer.

2nd VDG Donna and her husband Lion Brad are the proud parents of two children and six grandchildren.  Service to one’s community has always been an important part of their family life.  2nd VDG Donna has sponsored ten Lions into Higgins Diggins, including her husband in 2014, her sister Janet Proctor in 2013 and son-in-law Dann Craven in 2019 (Dann sponsored Donna’s daughter Nikki).

At the District level, 2nd VDG Donna has held many positions including Cabinet Secretary, Global Service Team (GST) Coordinator, Donner Region Chair (twice), Golden Empire Zone Chair, Women’s Development Chair, Lions Medical Emergency Assistance Fund (LMEAF) Co-Chair, District Convention Hospitality Chair and she served on the Long Range Planning Committee for four years.  She also served on the Lions Education Foundation (LEF) Board for seven years and as Secretary for the Folsom Project for Visually Impaired (FPVI) Board 2018-2019.

2nd VDG Donna has received many awards including Higgins Diggins Club Lion of the Year (twice), District Lioness of the Year (2006-2007), Donner Region Lion of the Year (twice), District Co –Lion of the Year (2014-2015), several District Governor Certificates of Appreciation; Multiple District 4 Excellence Award, International President’s Award (2014-2015), International Leadership Award (2017-2018), and she is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.

2nd VDG Donna loves to cook (she is know for her fabulous pies), garden, sew, travel and most importantly spend time with her family, especially her six amazing grandchildren.
