Lion James was born and raised in
Sacramento, CA.
He attended local schools C.K. McClatchy High School,
Sacramento
City
College, and the University of California,
Berkeley. He graduated from
U.C. Berkeley with a BA in Architecture in 1968, MBA in 1980, and did
post graduate work in Urban & Environmental Planning.
He met Lion Josephine in 1966 at U.C. Berkeley and they were
married in 1974. Lion James’
three children also graduated from U.C. Berkeley.
Lion James has been a licensed architect in the state of
California
for the past 36 years. He is
currently with the University
of California,
Davis
- Design & Construction Management.

On the club level, Lion James
has served as member of the Board of Directors, President, Vice
President, Service Project Chair, Twinning Club Chair, and in various
District and Club Fundraisers.
At the District level
he has served as 1st
Vice District Governor, 2nd
Vice District Governor, Sacramento Region - Crocker Zone Chair, LEF
Board, NCLSA Board, MD-4 Long Range Planning, and has been on the Sight
First II Campaign Committee, UCDMC Pediatric Trauma Center Charity Golf
Committee, and Cabinet Advisory Committee.
He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
He has attended various MD-4 Conventions,
4-C5 Conventions, US/Canada Lions Leadership Forums, LCI International
Conventions, 4-C5 Legacy Leadership Forums, MD-4 Leadership Institute,
LCI Senior Lions Leadership Institute, and Certified Guiding Lion
Forums.

Lion
James has lived in Sacramento
all his life except for his time in college and the military.
He served in the Army
in Vietnam
and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Vietnam Campaign
Medals.
Lion James is also very active with the
Methodist
Church where
he is President of the Administrative Board.
