Lion Richard was born in Sacramento, California on July 20, 1947. He is
a graduate of La Sierra High School in Carmichael, CA and from Cerritos
Community College in Norwalk, CA. He married Lion Sandi in 1998. Lions’
Richard & Sandi have six children and eight grandchildren. They are
spread around the country, living coast to coast.
Lion Richard Joined the Tehachapi Lions club in 1985 in
District 4L-1. He then transferred to the District 4C-5, Roseville
Sunrise Lions Club in 1990. In 2000 Sandi & he relocated to Elk Grove
California and transferred to the Pride of Laguna Creek Lions Club.
Lion Richard Has been Cabinet Treasurer, Twice Region Chair
(Maidu & Sacramento), Twice Zone Chair (Diamond “K” & Sutter); Long
Range Planning Committee Chair, six times (6) Constitution & By-Laws
Committee Chair. He is also a Past President of the Northern California
Lions Sight Association.
Lion Richard has
received these awards: a Melvin Jones Fellow; an International
President’s Leadership Medal; two (2) International President’s
Certificates of Appreciation; District Governor’s Appreciation Medal;
Life membership (“Akio Hayashi), a “Fred O. Summer Fellow” & a “Gordon
Daniels” from the Northern California Lions Sight Association. He also
received a Life Membership and
two “Abdul’
awards from the Lions Project, Canine Companions for Independence.
Lion Richard spent six years in the United States Navy and was
honorably discharged as a Machinist Mate Second Class with “I was there
Medals” from Vietnam.
Lion Richard recently retired after thirty seven years from
the State of California as a Departmental Construction & Maintenance
Supervisor for the Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation.
