| INTERNATIONAL FOOD FAIR
- FOLSOM August 22nd 2010 |
I would
like to invite all clubs to participate in the
August 22nd Food Fair in Folsom. For those
club that have participated before you know how much fun it is and I
would like for you to talk to your neighboring clubs to join in the
FUN! This year the Theme is in conjunction with the International
Presidents Theme "A World of Talent". It's a fun filled afternoon
for everyone. It's a chance to meet other Lions in our District and
listen to the talent that will be provided by the contestants from
around our area. I am trying to build this event up since it helps
with our training and education for Lions.

| Topic: Tree Planting This Fall With the Sacramento Tree Foundation |
All District 4-C5 officers are looking ahead to a great start for
the 2009-10 Lion year. Your Environmental Committee Chair is among
them. In that regard, Vice District Governor Derek Leda and I have
been looking ahead to having as many clubs as possible partner
with the Sacramento Tree Foundation in tree planting activities this
fall. You can do this as an individual club activity as some
did last year or you might wish to partner with other clubs in your
zone or region. Start thinking about this now. Fall will be upon
us before we know it. The earlier you start talking about it and
planning, the more successful your club's efforts will be.
The Sacramento Tree Foundation recently released the following
announcement to all of the clubs in our District:
"Hundreds of Trees in Need of a Permanent Home"
The Sacramento
Tree Foundation is seeking volunteers and public land throughout the
counties of El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba to
plant trees. Public land includes public schools, streets, parks,
public buildings and open space/nature areas. If you or your club
has a tree planting project in mind, we want to hear from you!
Additionally, when you provide your name, club affiliation, zip code
and email, the Sacramento Tree Foundation will keep you informed of
projects in your community. Please direct correspondence to
Anne Fenkner at the Sacramento Tree
Foundation: (916) 924-TREE x 133 or
anne@sactree.com
.."
So,
get the conversation rolling in your clubs and let's see what we can
do as Lions to make a positive contribution to our environment's
future. Projects like this will help minimize soil erosion and help
improve animal habitats and improve the air we breathe. It's a
win-win-win situation for all concerned.
Thank
you in advance for any consideration you can give to this
suggestion. If you have any questions, contact Anne Fenkner at the
above phone # or e-mail address. Alternately, you can contact me as
