| Lion James was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. he attended local schools, CK McClatchy High School, Sacramento City College, and University of California-Berkeley. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Architecture in 1968, MBA in 1980, and did Post Graduate work in Urban & Environmental Planning. |
| Lion James met Lion Josephine in 1966 at UC Berkeley and they were married in 1974. They have three children also graduates from UC Berkeley. Lion James is a licensed architect in the State of California for the past 34 years. He is currently with the University of California, Office of Architects & Engineers-Davis Campus. |
| Lion James has served on the club level as member of the Board of Directors, Vice President, President, Service Project Chair, Twinning Club Chair, and various District and Club Fundraisers. He has served as Crocker Zone Chair, Sight First II Campaign Committee, UCDMC Pediatric Trauma Center Charity Golf Committee, Cabinet Advisory committee, and is a Melvin Jones Fellow. He has attended almost every MD-4 Conventions, 4-C5 Conventions, US/Canada Lion Leadership Forum, International Conventions, 4-C5 Legacy Leadership Classes, MD-4 Leadership Forum and is a Certified Guiding Lion. |
| Lion James has lived in Sacramento all his life except for going to college and being in the military service, serving in the US Army in Vietnam. He was awarded a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Vietnam Campaign Metals. Lion James is also very active with the Methodist Church, where he is President of the Administrative Board. Volunteering is very important to the Fong Family as Lion James learned from an early age from his grandparents. |
| Lion James has received number of awards. IPIP Mahindra Amashuria's President's Excellence Award, IPDG Gary Dapelo Governors 100% President's Award, and a Melvin Jones Fellow Award by the Board of Directors and members of the Sacramento Senator Lions Club. He was elected as the first 2nd Vice District Governor for 2009-2010. |
